'Of Mice and Men' Description

Streetwise George and his big, childlike friend Lennie are drifters, searching for work in the fields and valleys of California. They have nothing except the clothes on their back, and a hope that one day they'll find a place of their own and live the American dream. But dreams come at a price. Gentle giant Lennie doesn't know his own strength, and when they find work at a ranch he gets into trouble with the boss's daughter-in-law. Trouble so bad that even his protector George may not be able to save him.

Customer Reviews for 'Of Mice and Men (Pocket Penguin Classics) (New edition)'

Emma Gentry

This book is one of the best books I have ever read. The descriptions of the characters and places are absolutely beautiful and accurate. I am only 16 and I am reading this book for GCSE english. Steinbeck uses just the right imagery that you never get bored of the story and permenant powerful images in your mind. It is fairly simple to understand yet very complex, so you don't need to be an avid reader to enjoy it. You can tell the book comes from a certain era because of the old language, this makes it so much more real. If you like real but enchanting stories that seem to blossom in your head, then this is deffinately the book for you.
