An evocative, imaginative novel that deals with weighty themes of temptation, sacrifice and redemption, all wrapped up in a very fast-paced roller-coaster ride that has imagination to spare. If you like your fantasy thoughtful, compelling and a little challenging then this will be for you. Although the set-up plays with the conventions of a classic children's tale, it becomes much darker as it goes along. I loved it!
