Gordon Ramsay is the most exciting and high-profile chef of today. His amazing talent, huge personality and non-nonsense attitude have propelled him to the top of his profession and won him legions of admirers the world over.
At the age of 18, he was a professional footballer playing for Glasgow Rangers. An injury sent him from the football field to the kitchen, where he well and truly made his mark. A multi-millionaire by the time he was 30, Ramsay is as ambitious today as he was when he was a teenager. He is one of only three chefs in the UK to maintain three Michelin Stars for his restaurant.
Gordon's first book, Passion for Flavour, was published in 1996. Since then a number of hugely successful books by Gordon have been published. His television programmes such as Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, awarded a BAFTA and an International Emmy, and The F Word attract huge audiences. In America, a sixth season of Hell's Kitchen aired to exceptional viewing figures of over 14 million.
Ramsay was appointed OBE in the 2006 honours list "for services to the hospitality industry". He juggles 18-hour days in the kitchens of his various restaurants with his television career and his role as devoted father and husband - and still finds time to run marathons!
