More About Hello Kitty

Hello Kitty is a fictional character produced by the Japanese company Sanrio and designed by Ikuko Shimizu, the first product was introduced in Japan in 1974 and in the United States in 1976. The famous character is portrayed as a female white cat, with a red bow and no mouth which has become an icon recognised by millions of children and adults world wide.

Since 1974 Hello Kitty line has developed licensing arrangements around the globe, examples of products depicting the character include dolls, stickers and greeting cards to clothes, accessories, school supplies, dishes and home appliances. Hello Kitty even has her own official theme park, Sanrio Puroland. Hello Kitty has various associated characters but most recognisable is Mimmy, who is identical to Kitty but has different coloured clothes and wears her bow under the opposite ear.
