Over the past 20 years Filofax has become the must have Personal Organiser; this would lead most people to believe that it is a relatively new concept. What most people fail to realise, is that the history of the Filofax dates all the way back to 1921. Once the concept of the Filofax Personal Organiser was brought back to the UK, a London based company was created to market and sell these personal organisation systems, and in 1930 they registered the trademark Filofax. A name, cleverly decided upon, based on the description of the File of Facts the company was selling.
It was not until 50 years later that the appeal of owning a Filofax boomed and in the mid 1980's it was reborn as a business necessity. This time it featured a Diary and Year Planner, as well as forms for Business Expenses, Financial Data and World Time Zones. The new Filofax was now a stylish binder in luxurious leather. The Filofax had now become an indispensable organizer and status symbol for the 80's being sold in the most prestigious stores world wide, including Harrods and Bloomingdales. Even with the emergence of PDA's and Smart Phones such as the Blackberry, the Filofax continues to be a must have for many business professionals. With even more sizes, styles, colours and accessories and refills to choose from today, the idea that there is a Filofax for everyone has never been more true!
