Judy's Review:

Everyone goes to therapists these days.

There’s a feeling in the zeitgeist that counselling can cure anything, whether it’s addiction to booze, drugs, food, depression or a lousy marriage.

So when Will and Erin start to feel their blissful marriage is on the rocks, they find a couples’ therapist to put them back on the right track. They were such a happy little family, with their three-year-old daughter Sadie and their beloved little dog, Coco.

Then one day Coco disappears, and Erin begins to unravel. She suddenly feels frightened of her beloved husband Will. He gives her a necklace as a Valentine’s Day gift and she shrinks with fear as he fastens it around her neck.

Coco’s loss has triggered a deeply buried trauma in Erin’s life, and she panics that her life with Will has put her in danger. Their marriage disintegrates until they’re barely talking.

Richard's Review:

So Erin finds a local Couples Counsellor, Maggie Day, to guide her and Will through their present problems. Little do they know that Maggie has her own troubles, her own shocking past trauma. Many years ago her teenage sister Lily was murdered. The man who was convicted of the crime is about to be released on parole, and Maggie dreads the day because her own actions on the night Lily died cause her enormous guilt.

So when she finds Erin seems to have a link to the murder, her therapy takes a dangerous turn. Far from helping to save her clients’ marriage she embarks on a mission to reveal the hidden truth from Erin’s subconscious. The message from this gripping psychological drama is be careful when you’re looking for a therapist.

They may not have your best interests at heart.
