Rob Hawkins started using spreadsheets in 1990 when colour monitors were a luxury and Microsoft Excel was available as version 3.0. After spending three years at university completing a computer-related business studies degree and using a variety of spreadsheets and database software, he became a freelance journalist and photographer in 1993. Two years later he started delivering computer training courses and continued his journalism, progressing into computer magazines and writing reviews and technical guides. The computer training develop into consultancy with several corporate projects using Excel.
