Barbara Hardwick describes this book of her poetry as being 'about the agony and the ecstasy of being at the right place at the wrong time, and the price that must then be paid for the pursuance of love'. The path of life is seldom a smooth one, and all too often the way is stormy and beset by difficulties. But no matter how hard the going is, there are glimpses of paradise - those causes for gladness and hope that bring comfort and consolation. Many of the poems in this book are prayer-like, and they remind us that a loving God watches over us.
Barbara Hardwick grew up in Sheffield, where she lived until 1968, when she moved to Cornwall to live with her partner until his death in 1993. For the past twenty years, until her retirement in April 2011, Barbara was the proprietor of the Bargain Bookshop in Newquay, Cornwall, where she made a great many friends among the staff, public and book trade. Barbara has a keen interest in gardening, cooking and music.
