A History of Dunster :The Castle and Village explores the local history of Dunster Castle and its surrounding area in Somerset. This book, which covers the local history dating as far back as to 1066, captures the development of the village from Anglo-Saxon rule and the turn of the Medieval period right up and to the 21st century. Dunster Castle lies on the top of a steep hill, known as the Tor where it has welcomed visitors for hundreds of years. Today Dunster Castle is operated by the National Trust and is recognised as one of the UK's popular tourist attractions
Bev Woodger was a teacher throughout his working life and on his retirement he became a volunteer guide at Dunster Castle with the National Trust. Inevitably this led him to examine the history of the area in more detail and dissatisfied with some of the more romantic versions on offer he set about analysing the truth. His first book in 2006 was well received and this encouraged him to write this new and fuller account.
