A romantic comedy set in 1804, "A Time to Keep" inhabits terrain somewhere between Jane Austen and Dickens with its self-centred middle classes, its nearby garrison and plenty of scheming low lives. A well-born, feisty young woman meets a charming yet resourceful son of a family of smugglers. This play is premiered by the Dorchester Community Players.
David Edgar is best known for his stage adaptation of Nicholas Nickleby for the RSC. He is the author of many plays including Entertaining Strangers which starred Dame Judi Dench.
