Description

This special, self-contained volume details the proceedings of the XXth Solvay Conference on Chemistry, bringing together the most prominent contributors to modern photochemistry. It presents the most recent research on chemical reactions and their control on the femtosecond time scale. It also contains first-hand information on the problem of laser coherent control of many-body quantum systems and of chemical reactions, as well as on perspectives about possible future applications.

About Author

About the editors PIERRE GASPARD is a permanent scientific researcher at the National Fund for Scientific Research (FNRS Belgium) at the Center for Nonlinear Phenomena and Complex Systems of the Universite Libre de Bruxelles. A specialist in classical and quantum dynamical systems theory, he has made several contributions to the semiclassical theory of intramolecular and reaction dynamics as well as to the control of chemical reactions, in collaboration with Prof. S. A. Rice. IRENE BURGHARDT received her PhD. in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy in 1992 from the Universite de Lausanne, Switzerland, under the supervision of Prof. G. Bodenhausen.
