About Author

Matthew McConaughey, born in Uvalde, TX in 1969, scored his breakout role as Wooderson in Dazed and Confused (1993) after meeting casting director Don Phillips in an Austin bar. Says Phillips, 'I thought he was too good-looking, and I needed Wooderson to be a little creepier. [And then] Matthew just sunk into character. His eyes shut to little quarter slots, and he said, Hey, man, you got a joint?' After Dazed, Matthew starred in A Time to Kill and a few other films before entering a decade-long run of blockbuster rom-coms (such as 2001s The Wedding Planner and 2003s How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days) during which he was named Peoples Sexiest Man Alive. In 2011, he relaunched his career with a string of more challenging roles, starring in The Lincoln Lawyer (2011) and Soderberghs Magic Mike (2012), followed by Wolf of Wall Street (2013), his Oscar-winning performance in Dallas Buyers Club (2013), and the critically acclaimed HBO series True Detective (2014). Upcoming films include the 2014 Christopher Nolan blockbuster Interstellar, and a Magic Mike sequel.Absurd fact #1: In 2000, Matthew was arrested in Austin when a neighbor filed a noise complaint. Police arrived to find Matthew naked and playing the bongos.Absurd fact #2: The original Magic Mike script did not include a stripping scene for Matthew. Matthew requested one, of course.ABOUT 'ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT' Yes, its a well-known saying from Dazed and Confused, but its also pure, unscripted Matthew. On the very first night of filming, with the cameras already rolling, Matthew recalled a live Doors album hed been listening to lately in which Jim Morrison shouts 'Alright, alright, alright' in between songs. Channeling Morrison, Matthew crooned those words as he pulled up alongside the redhead at the drive-in in the now famous scene.
