The Alvis company of Coventry were motor and aero engineers who made some of the finest motor cars during the period 1920 to 1967 when car production stopped. There were no independent coachbuilders left and mass production was not for Alvis. Total production was a mere 21,250 and less than 7,000 after World War 2. It is the post-war cars that this book focuses on. In 1996 the 50th Anniversary of the Alvis Fourteen was marked with a 220 page book compiled by Mick Fletcher and Colin Newby of the Alvis Owner Club, still available on DVD, which remains as relevant today as it was then. Twenty years later, the first chapter of this book is devoted to updating the history of the Fourteen with both archive and contemporary photos. The Fourteen's successor, the Three Litre, had a production run of seventeen years and the newest is now nearly fifty years old. The last book devoted to this model was Dave Culshaw's "The Alvis 3-litre in Detail". The remaining chapters of this book build on technical and historical detail in that book with both archive and contemporary photos.
