Michael Whitby is Emeritus Professor at the University of Birmingham. His many publications include, with Mary Whitby, Chronicon Paschale 284-628 (Translated Texts for Historians 7, LUP 1989, new edition in preparation); The Ecclesiastical History of Evagrius Scholasticus (Translated Texts for Historians 33, LUP 2000) and The Cambridge Ancient History XIV, Late Antiquity, Empire and Successors A.D. 425-600 (Cambridge University Press 2000) co-ed with Averil Cameron and Bryan Ward-Perkins. Mary Whitby is Instructor in Greek and Latin in the University of Oxford and Lecturer in Ancient Greek at Merton College, Oxford. She is a General Editor of the Translated Texts for Historians series.
