In a world that is increasingly interconnected, it is important for students in the United States to develop an understanding and appreciation for the history, culture, and traditions of their peers in other nations. Connecting Across Cultures: Grades K-8 offers educators a roadmap to global education with proven, practical ways to modify the curriculum to prepare students to be contributing members of the global village.
Mary Ann Buchino, EdD, has worked at Nativity School for the past 23 years and has been intimately involved with the development of the global education program. Her strong interest in curriculum has led her to research methods for integrating global education as well as consultation on the topic and presentations at the state and regional levels. Bob Herring has been principal of Nativity School since 1984, where he developed and refined the global education program. He was awarded the National Distinguished Principal Award (2006) from the National Association of Elementary School Principals and the United States Department of Education.
