Description

This study focuses on the role of the Ten Commandments in Christian mission. The work tests an ancient instrument's potentiality to accurately differentiate world views in the twenty-first century. The project employs integrative research methodology, chiefly qualitative interviewing and textual analysis. In order to explore a comprehensive theory of covenantal ethnohermeneutics and to test the reliability of the instrument, the researcher replicates similar analysis across three case studies of three different cultural scenes in three periods of history. In the work, Covenantal theory (Reformed Protestant covenant theory and Jewish ontic hermeneutics) is compared with worldview theory to explore a covenantal hermeneutic theory. Second, this emerging theory is compared with the literature on integrative/qualitative research theory in order to identify possible complementarities to guide the case study research.
