About Author

Catherine Carstairs teaches history at the University of Guelph. She is the author of Jailed for Possession: Illegal Drug Use, Regulation and Power in Canada, 1920-1961 (2006). Nancy Janovicek teaches history at the University of Calgary. She is the author of No Place to Go: Local Histories of the Battered Women's Shelter Movement (UBC Press, 2007).
