The author examines how the folk tale addresses basic needs of children, their depiction of life, and what the tales' resolutions reveal about the problems children encounter as they mature. This work identifies basic human needs addressed in the analyzed literature. Among the seven identified basic needs, especial emphasis was found on safety needs, achievement needs, love needs, and physiological needs, although aesthetic needs and the needs for knowledge and change were also present. Life was portrayed in these books as it is in the real world.
