In 1924, Jean Dickinson, nee Wood, was country-born in the Dales of North Yorkshire; and on her marriage she moved to her husband's war-damaged city of Coventry, where her three children were born. In the late 1950s her husband's work took them to New Zealand where they lived for forty years. For family reasons they then moved to Melbourne, where they still live. Intermittently over the years she marked occasions and friendships by writing mildly amusing verses; and, when seeking a distraction while her husband had an extended stay in hospital, she adopted her daughter's suggestion that she should look out these poems and assemble them into a collection. This book is the result.
