Linda Black's first collection consists entirely of prose poems. The author says of the collection: "I like how the form allows for an ending that isn't an ending - I don't believe in the idea of closure; as in etching I'd want an image, fine detail, but also degrees of dark or shade with less definition, something implied, unseen, reverberating in the shadows."
Linda Black studied at Leeds Art College, Goldsmiths and the Slade School. She ran Apollo Etching Studio in London and has exhibited widely. Her poems have appeared in various magazines and anthologies, most recently I am Twenty People! (Enitharmon, 2007). She was the recipient of the 2004/5 Poetry School Scholarship and a pamphlet of her work, The beating of wings (Hearing Eye, 2006) was the PBS Pamphlet Choice for Spring 2007. She is the winner of the 2006 New Writing Ventures Award for poetry.
