The single, most important piece of advice we can give you for starting a new school year is to get yourself organised from day one. No one wants to be carrying around a scrap of paper with their lessons jotted on it, or writing an important deadline on their hand and wondering what that smudged ink stain is about when they get home. Get yourself a diary and blimmin’ well use it! You’ll thank us when you’re up to your neck in deadlines later this year. Academic diaries (or mid-year diaries as they’re sometimes known) begin in June and take you through the school year so that you don’t spend the Christmas hols transferring everything into your new diary that starts in January. Most of them now come with handy features such as space for a timetable, deadlines and exams and a list of notable dates, and there are loads of different designs, binding and layouts to pick from to make sure you get the perfect one for you.
