King Lear is a play universally acclaimed by critics and audiences. A play which shows the Bard at the height of his playwriting skill. It is therefore with great pleasure that we can now introduce an exciting new discovery - namely the missing first scene of King Lear, as discovered and presented here by Christopher Eve-White...Christopher Eve-White's first experience of a Shakespeare play occurred at the age of four, when - as he clearly remembers - he was convulsed by the antics in The Taming of the Shrew. This evidently gave him a taste for the Bard, and it sometimes seems to him that, in the course of the following 70-plus years, he has seen more performances of the various plays than he has had hot dinners. He has always found the scene at the beginning of King Lear - up to now generally thought to be the "first" scene - the most harrowing in the whole of Shakespeare. But at the same time he has felt that it leaves some points unexplained. He has therefore been delighted to 'discover' this little work, which helps to clarify things a bit...King Lear - The Missing First Scene is a tongue-in-cheek addition to the great work which is set to appeal to all Shakespeare fans.
