Lake District Tea Shop Walks is written for friends and families looking for an enjoyable walk to do together, to be followed by a good cup of tea and a delicious slice of cake. There are twenty different walks in the Lake District National Park included in the book, and all have simply stunning views of this very special part of the world. There are walks around tarns and lakes, along rivers and estuaries, through parkland, farmland and woodland, as well as walks up some of the national parks most accessible fells. Each walk starts - and finishes - at a tearoom, chosen because of its fantastic selection of cakes and because it offers something different from the ordinary! A final chapter containing cake recipes is included, so that you can choose to take your own cake on the walk with you, or bake them at home on days when you want to remember a good day out in the Lakes.
Catherine grew up in the Lake District, walking most weekends with her family and friends. It was from a young age therefore that she developed her love of walking, outdoor environments and in particular, the Lake District National Park. After moving away from the area to study and start her career in environmental conservation and forestry, Catherine moved back to Cumbria to enjoy this special part of the world with her husband and two daughters.
