THE EDITOR Leonard A. Valverde is the executive director of the Hispanic Border Leadership Institute and professor of higher education at Arizona State University. Throughout his forty years in education he has been a vice president for academic affairs in Texas, dean of the fifth largest college of education in the nation, and a department chair.
