This beautiful book guides the reader through Wendy's inventive style of work: from piecing and patching fabrics and creating textures to painting and embellishing with hand and machine stitching. This book contains a wealth of inspiration for any textile artist, showing them how to create gorgeous, textured pieces of art and then, in the final chapter, offering inspiration for how to transform these pieces into three-dimensional items such as cushion covers, notebooks, 3-d vessels, and even a wedding dress, which Wendy made for her daughter. The book contains six beautiful step-by-step projects, broken down into three chapters: Architecture, Landscapes and Flowers, and at the end of each section there is an inspiring gallery of Wendy's work.

About Author

Wendy Dolan has loved designing and creating from an early age. She studied Art and Textiles and qualified with a Bachelor of Education Honours Degree, teaching in Primary Schools for several years. During this time she returned to college part time and gained a Diploma in Creative Embroidery. With a young family to look after, she began exhibiting and selling her work and sharing her love of textiles with others. Wendy has worked since then as a professional textile artist, tutor and lecturer both in the UK and abroad. She offers a wide range of courses, specialising in Freehand Machine Embroidery and related textile techniques and teaches regularly at West Dean College Sussex, Denman College Oxfordshire and in Murcia Spain for Castanea Craft Holidays. She is a Fellow of the Society of Designer Craftsmen, a member of the Embroiderers Guild and her work is held in private collections worldwide. She has worked on some large scale commissions - stage curtains for the Royal Caribbean International cruise line, and a large Millennium wall hung textile for Ashridge House in Hertfordshire.
