One of the reasons for this is that, until recently, the information required to analyse learner competencies in relation to the inputs they receive from their school and home environments did not exist. The results of the recent, large scale Quality learning project (QLP) survey have now made this data available for certain schools, and this monograph uses the QLP data to address the question of how socio-economic variables impact on educational outcomes for pupils concerned.
