Rabbi Scot A. Berman was born in Alma, Michigan, and received his rabbinic ordination from the Hebrew Theological College in Skokie, Illinois, in 1980. He holds a masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Loyola University in Chicago. Rabbi Berman developed many of his ideas about teaching Talmud while head of the Talmud department at Loyola, and later as Assistant Principal of Ida Crown Jewish Academy. From 1992 1994, Rabbi Berman studied in Jerusalem as a Jerusalem Fellow. He was principal of the Rabbi David L. Silver Yeshiva Academy in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and is currently principal of the Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy High School in Livingston, New Jersey. Rabbi Berman lives in West Orange, New Jersey, with his wife and four children.
