We live in times that change rapidly. We live our lives moment by moment, event by event, day by day. We are assailed by a kaleidoscope of information and a torrent of opinion. We try to make sense of it all. Where do we stand? What do we think? With the skilled observation of the psychologist and the gifted expression of the born writer, Marie Murray explores aspects of living that affect us all.She writes of emotions and behaviours, ethical and social issues, families and relationships, and many other themes both whimsical and profound. What do shoes, adolescence, de-cluttering, aunts, gratitude, immigration, celebrity television, handbags, holiday stress, divorce and eduction have in common? They are how we live our times. In collecting, expanding, updating and grouping thematically a selection of her writing in "The Irish Times" and elsewhere, Marie Murray has given us a book that is as delightfully lucid as it is touchingly relevant. It is a book to give, to keep and to read again and again.
