About the Author
As Publishing Officer in UM's Health Information Technology and Services, Dr. Markovac is responsible for development and execution of health-related publishing initiatives. She is involved with portfolio development, assessment and analysis of key current and emerging markets for educational, clinical, and research content. She has over 20 years of experience in commercial publishing. Dr. Markovac is Chair, FASEB Publications & Communications Committee and Chair, Career Mentoring and Networking Sub-committee for the Society for Neuroscience. Ms. Kleinman is a Ph.D. Candidate in Higher Education at the University of Michigan, as well as a former copyright librarian and workshop instructor on copyright, open access, and Creative Commons. She studies higher education policy, access to information, and faculty experience with technology. Her dissertation is a study of the first generation of faculty to teach Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). Dr Englesbe is involved in undergraduate, medical student, and surgeon education. He is the director of the 3rd and 4th year medical student curriculum at the University of Michigan Medical School. He directs the Academic Surgery Development Program at Michigan, enabling students and trainees do impactful work in surgery. He is a transplant surgeon focusing on pediatric and adult liver transplantation. His research interests involve practice transformation, focusing on perioperative care. He directs the Michigan Surgical Quality Collaborative and the Michigan Opioid Prescribing and Engagement Program. His passion is enabling young surgeons to development inpact-focused professional careers.
