Lavrans Nielsen was a Trappist monk for 20 years with the abbey at Gethsemani (1957-1976). His artistic creations range through a great variety of media: fro oil painting to woodcuts and linoleum blocks; from calligraphy to liturgical banners and icons. A late interest was painting large, light-colored abstractions in a multi-layered, three-dimensional format. His work displays a keen sensitivity to religion, culture, and art. This volumes makes available a wide range of his beautiful works, printed on high-quality opaque paper and easily reproduced by qualified users.
