This book is a revised edition of "The Influence of Shakespeare on Richard Wagner", published by The Edwin Mellen Press in 1999. The original edition (ISBN 00-7734-7774-8) is still in print and available from the publisher. Only this revised edition is available on trade discount terms and includes a new introduction. This book presents the historical evidence of Wagner's own writings, reported conversations about Shakespeare, and the circumstantial evidence of the Shakespearean straits to be found in some of Wagner's works, including "Das Liebesverbot", "Parsifal", and the "Ring cycle".
