The purpose of this book is to trace the history of globalization and its impact on supply chain management and to look at the problems and some of the solutions facing global supply chains in the current era. The current challenge is surviving the challenge of global competition. Good supply chain management can be a valuable tool in winning this competition.
James A. Pope holds a PhD in business administration from the University of North Carolina and degrees in economics from Northwestern University and the College of Wooster in Ohio. Dr. Pope has over 45 years in both the academic and professional sides of supply-chain management, and has done consulting and writing in a variety of operations areas, including inventory management, logistics, scheduling, quality, and supply-chain management. Dr. Pope is currently a guest professor at the Baden-Wurtemburg Cooperative State University in Mosbach, Germany.
