Description

This is a fascinating story of the 101 Ranch, from its early formation until it's termination in 1939. This study documents the dream to reality perseverance of ranch founder George Washington Miller and how he turned a worthless property into a small, self-sufficient city and in the process contributed to major innovations in farming and ranching that helped build the American farm industry today. This book discusses the 101 Ranch from its early beginnings to its demise in 1939. The 101 Ranch was the dream of Kentuckian George Washington Miller who after the Civil War wanted to establish a cattle empire in the West. The book follows his journey from Kentucky to Kansas to Oklahoma where he finally established his 101 Ranch near the Bliss, Oklahoma, which is now Marland, Oklahoma. The main focus is the Ranch and how George Washington Miller and his three sons, Joseph Carson Miller, Zachery Taylor Miller, and George Lee Miller developed the Ranch into one of the greatest ranches in America in the early 20th century. The book will be limited to the establishment of the Ranch and will not cover the 101 Wild West Show or the 101 Ranch's contribution to the film industry. One of the main points of the discussion will be all the advancements the Millers made to the ranching and farming industry.
