About Author

Jo Ann Staugaard-Jones is an international educator, Full Professor of Kinesiology, Exercise Science, and Dance, and an advanced Pilates teacher and Hatha Yoga Instructor (Shambhava School of Yoga in Colorado and the Himalayan Institute, Pa.). Her degrees in Dance (MA, NYU) and Movement Education (BS, Kansas University) and experience as a professional dancer & choreographer led her to a professorship at County College of Morris, NJ, where she helped create the Exercise Science major and instituted Dance as an Associate in Fine Arts degree program, one of the first in the country at a 2-year college. She has authored the Anatomy of Exercise & Movement and The Vital Psoas Muscle, both by Lotus Publishing (UK) and North Atlantic Books (US). She has taught throughout the US, in the UK, Sweden, the Netherlands, Prague, France, and Costa Rica. Believing that knowledge of the body is a pathway to health and healing is Jo Ann's main focus in all teachings. She is a member of the International Assoc. of Dance Medicine & Science and PAMA, the Performing Arts Medicine Assoc. She sponsors international holistic retreats through www.neatretreats.com, and has developed www.move-live.com, an interactive website to inspire people to "keep moving"!
