DescriptionThe first application of the theory embracing an integration of the metaphysical with empirical science allowing for an examination of archetypal orientations, that provide meaningful comparisons and profiling for a range of topics and scholarly endeavors, in one book. This work examines and reflects upon the meta-theoretical and cross-disciplinary nature of this approach. It represents a follow-up on the author's first volume "The four types of knowing - metaphysical, scientific, narrative and pragmatic: A meta-epistemology of mind". The present volume applies the author's theory to a new set of topics. The following disciplines and thinkers have been selected, namely: Trinitarian theology; Mediaeval Jewish thought; Karl Jaspers' 'paradigmatic individuals'; Robert Pirsig's narrative in search of 'Quality'; organizational leadership thought, and, lastly, intervention paradigms in the field of Organization Development (OD). The chapters addressing the selection of disciplines and thinkers are grouped into: religious thought; individual thinkers in the narrative tradition, and two noteworthy themes in the area of business thought (specifically, management and organizational behaviour). In each of the chapters the four modalities of mind, namely: the objectivist-empyrean (type I), objectivist-empiricist (type II), subjectivist-empiricist (type III), and subjectivist-empyrean (type IV), are shown to be applicable.
