Graham Burgess has been a World Chess Federation (FIDE) Master since the age of 20. As well as having competed at international level for many years, he has written more than 20 highly acclaimed and award-winning books on chess, and edited more than 200. In 1994 he set a new world record by playing 510 games of "blitz chess" (five minutes for each player) in three days and winning a remarkable 85 per cent. He lives in Bristol.
