This is Margaret Anne Harvey's third children's book and is largely based on vivid dreams. When Jane and Jack wandered deeper and deeper into the big forest, the trees closed in behind them and it began to grow dark. They were lost! The forest at night is a fearsome place. On every hand are hidden dangers. As the two children stand hand in hand, strange sounds come to them from out of the shadows and fill them with dread. Before long, however, Jane and Jack discover that there is another person trapped in the forest - an old gentleman, stranger than they could ever have dreamed.
