Michael edited the official guide to the city of Ely for some 20 years, and has written numerous articles for magazines. He is also a founder member of the Ely Society. In 2010 the Cambridgeshire Association for Local History honored him with a Dedicated Service Award for "Long and Dedicated Service in the Field of Local History in Cambridgeshire." He lives in Ely.
