Unlike other books that are filled with massive amounts of material yet never lead to any particular perspective, this book attempts to develop a general field theory of verbal interaction. The study builds upon 4,500 years of communication tradition, taking the reader toward a general vision of the central issues and features of human communication. In the end of the work, discussions cover linear and configural perspectives and discourse. The Universe of Discourse was written for students of communication and rhetoric. It will appeal to anyone interested in these fields and anyone wanting to gain a better understanding of human interaction.
