In a startling and original poetic voice, Megan Johnson in The Waiting reveals a vigilant young person who has suffered an unmentionable loss and who dismantles and reconstitutes lyric modes in a relentless search for solace. A lyric adventure of grief and search, The Waiting reinvents language from raw materials, driven by intense emotional need.
Megan Johnson was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. She holds an MFA from the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop and is the recipient of the Glenn Schaeffer Award in Poetry. Her poems have appeared in Verse, the Colorado Review, Epoch, Interim, and the Antioch Review, among other journals. She teaches at Victoria University in New Zealand. This is her first collection of poetry.
