for unison treble chorus with SA semi-chorus, and piano or orchestra or strings and piano
This setting of the folk song To the Ploughboy is delightfully light-hearted and carefree, with its spirited melodies, lively accompaniment, and repeated appeals to the listener to 'sing and be merry'. It was composed to serve as the Prologue to the cantata Folk Songs of the Four Seasons. Full and reduced orchestral accompaniments for the complete cantata are available on hire.
