Richard & Judy Review The List by Yomi Adegoke

Richard & Judy Introduce The List by Yomi Adegoke

Pretty much the definition of a page-turner, this one. Ola and Michael are the couple with it all at their feet. She’s a knockout-successful journalist; he’s just landed his dream job. Social networks have made them their ‘couple goals’. They get married in a month. Pow. And then… The List appears; a string of names of allegedly abusive men published online. Michael’s is on it. Appalled, Ola gives her fiancé until their wedding day to prove his innocence. And we’re off.

Richard's Review:

Just a month left to the wedding of the year; the wedding of the golden couple-to-be that everyone wants to be. Their favourite social networks have already made them undisputed ‘couple goals’ of the moment. That’s hardly surprising, is it? Just look at the two of them. Her, drop-dead gorgeous and knock’em dead successful Ola Olajide, one of the highest-profile women journalists of her generation, star writer on hip, hit Womxxxn Magazine … and him, Michael Koranteng, the guy who’s just landed everyone’s dream job. With exactly four weeks to go and success running like quicksilver through their lives, what could possibly go wrong? These two have it all…

Then comes the morning of the messages. Four of them, just to start with. All to Ola’s phone.

Judy's Review:

EMERGENCY. PICK UP YOUR FUCKING PHONE!

FFS OLAIDE!!!! U BEEN ON TWITTER???

CALL ME ASAP

HAVE U SEEN IT???! HAVE U SEEN THE LIST?

The List. It began as an anonymous series of allegations about abusive men, a secret on-line network aimed at protecting other women. Now it has exploded online in full, glaring detail. Names are named. Names are shamed. Men are blamed.

And Michael - gorgeous, wonderful, rich, successful, oh-so-perfect Michael - is one of them. Michael is on The List.

This is the kind of story that would normally have Ola way out in front of the rest of the pack, leading calls for sackings and arrests, breaking fresh angles. Now, she’s part of the story, thanks to Michael. What should she do?

She gives him a month. Four weeks. He has until their wedding day to prove his innocence.

And, dear reader, we are off. An absolutely sensational debut from Yomi Adegoke.
